We were lucky enough to catch up with our Clinical Training Director, Helen Coombs, after yesterday's successful Foundation Career Open Day, where we had the pleasure of welcoming a host of new students to our aesthetics training academy. With her passion for aesthetics and teaching, Helen has been busy balancing her time between running her own successful aesthetics clinic, Pro-Juvenate Aesthetics, and managing our growing business, Access 2 Aesthetics. Despite her hectic schedule, we managed to get a few moments with her to chat about her career, our aesthetics training academy, and her thoughts on the industry.

Q: Can you tell us a bit about your background and how you became involved in aesthetics training?
A: Absolutely. I'm the founder of the Pro-Juvenate Clinic, which I set up in a spare bedroom in my home back in 2015. I started out with a few basic treatments, and over time I built up the business. It was a lot of hard work, but I was passionate about aesthetics and determined to create something successful for myself and my family. Since then, we have grown into a very busy and successful clinic with over 1200 loyal clients and 4 members of staff. We offer a huge range of treatments, including laser services after recently purchasing a Stellar M22 from Lumenis. Through my experience with Pro-Juvenate, I discovered my passion for teaching and passing on my knowledge to others looking to enter the aesthetics industry.
Q: What sets your aesthetics training academy apart from other providers? A: We truly believe that having a strong and experienced team is key to building a successful business in any industry, and aesthetics is no exception. At our aesthetics training academy, we pride ourselves on having a team of trainers who are not only highly skilled in their field, but who are also passionate about teaching and helping our students succeed. All of our trainers are Medical Professional and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our courses, and they're dedicated to providing our students with the best possible learning experience. Having a team like this is essential in the aesthetics industry where patients' safety and satisfaction is everything.
Q: Can you walk us through what a typical training course with your academy looks like? A: Sure! At Access 2 Aesthetics, we pride ourselves on offering comprehensive and hands-on training for our students. We aim to equip our students with the knowledge and skills they need to be confident, ethical, and successful practitioners. We are all registered Nurses and will only train other medical professionals.
Our training schedule goes as follows: Our training schedule begins with a home theory session on our eLearning platform. Then, when students arrive on their training day, we recap the theory before moving on to a live demonstration from one of our specialist trainers. After the demonstration, students will have the opportunity to complete a practice session on our iFace Simulator before injecting live models. We also provide an opportunity for Q&A and a recap of the day, before presenting students with their certificate.
We're also committed to providing ongoing clinical and business support to our graduates. We want to ensure that they have the support they need to build successful careers in the aesthetics industry, which is why we offer continuing education opportunities, mentorship programs, and ongoing access to our team of experts.
Q: What advice do you have for someone who is considering a career in aesthetics? A: My biggest advice would be to prioritise education and training. It's incredibly important to choose a reputable and accredited training provider and to invest in ongoing learning and professional development throughout your career. I'd also encourage anyone considering aesthetics to make sure that they're passionate about the field and willing to put in the hard work to build a successful and rewarding career.
